Tongue
Hold your tongue they used to say,
Keep those words within,
There’s no one here who cares to hear,
Not now anyway.
You’re only a child what have you to say,
So hold that tongue my dear.
Speak louder they say
But your tongue is tied,
You’re so used to being silent.
Don’t bite your tongue anymore,
Let them hear,
Those words you hid all those years,
Let them hear.
It’s not a slip of tongue,
There’s no need to be civil,
Let those silent words be heard my love,
Let them resonate,
With all that passion you hid,
Your words are powerful.
And let your tongue taste every syllable,
Every word,
sweet and bitter
